A Natural Sugar
‘Sugar-free’ diets are the latest craze. We hear it all the time, sugar is ‘poison’, cut back on all processed meals, eat only raw foods.
But are ‘whole’ foods completely sugar-free? Most foods contain naturally occurring sugars; it’s the brown and white refined varieties that we should aim to cut back on. Plus, life would be no fun if we had no treats – just make sure you choose the right sweet options.
Maple syrup is a naturally occurring sugar containing fewer calories per teaspoon than honey, plus antioxidants and vitamins. If you want to make that delicious chocolate tart; or fancy a lashing of syrup on your porridge, go ahead, just try to replace the refined sugars with maple syrup products to enjoy guilt-free sweet treat.
