Five incredible pasta recipes with maple syrup

We’ve picked out five incredible pasta recipes so that you too can get involved in World Pasta Day! Each recipe is enhanced by maple syrup, which pairs perfectly with pasta’s rich textures to create a flavour profile that’s warming, indulgent and subtly sweet.

Bacon carbonara

This delightful bacon carbonara from food blogger Amy Louise has all the hallmarks of a classic carbonara: cured pork, simple preparation and a deliciously creamy texture that’s achieved without any cream.

The carbonara recipe also benefits from the natural sweetness of pure Canadian maple syrup, which is drizzled generously over the bacon as it cooks, complementing the pork’s natural smokiness.

Vegan mac and cheese

Mac and cheese is the ultimate comfort food and with this recipe, even vegans can satisfy their cravings! Made with dairy-free ingredients, this vegan mac and cheese achieves a thick, creamy texture to rival any of its dairy-based counterparts.

Sweetened with pure maple syrup and seasoned with sea salt, black pepper and mustard, the sauce has an incredible depth of flavour that’s made for macaroni.

Ham and cheese pasta

Ham and cheese is one of the most popular pasta combinations for good reason: the sharp flavours and soft textures of the melted cheese blend flawlessly with the sweet, salty tang of the ham.

This dynamic plays out perfectly in this delicious ham and cheese pasta. Originally created as a tasty way to use up Christmas leftovers, we’ve now come to depend on this recipe all year round.

Chicken and bacon pasta

Chicken and bacon is another staple of the pasta world and this recipe presents the pairing at its very best. Supplemented with peas, baby spinach and cherry tomatoes, this penne pasta is full of fresh flavours.

The recipe also features a deliciously sweet dressing made in part with maple vinegar, which works particularly well with the smoky flavours of this chicken and bacon pasta dish.

Butternut squash and pancetta pasta

A selection of earthy, aromatic ingredients combine to create something special in this one-pan pancetta pasta. The pancetta, seasoned with rosemary, chilli flakes and pure maple syrup, is a true delight.

Full of flavour, this butternut squash pasta exudes warmth and comfort. If you’re looking for a vegan-friendly pasta dish, simply go without the pancetta and parmesan in this recipe.
