Regal nibbles

It wouldn’t be a party without a selection of nibbles and finger food! If you’re looking for a simple recipe with a sophisticated touch, these cured salmon canapés are well worth your consideration.

After being soaked in brine for 15-30 minutes, the salmon is covered with maple syrup and then cured in the fridge for six hours. This technique draws out the liquid from the fish and infuses it with the natural sweetness of the maple syrup. Once cured, the salmon is topped with chopped dill and then placed on a small slice of toasted bread. Sweet, herby and delicious!

Looking for something that the kids can enjoy? These vegetarian sausage rolls are packed with flavour and are also a great way to test your baking skills.

The filling, which consists of cheese, onion, mustard, cream and breadcrumbs, does a great job of emulating the taste of sausagemeat, while the puffy pastry gets a splash of sweetness from the egg and maple syrup glaze.

Majestic mains

With your starters sorted, you can move on to the crowning glory of your coronation party: the mains. These salmon and cucumber sandwiches are an essential for any picnic taking place over the three-day weekend and will have you eating like royalty.

The smoked salmon is brushed with a deliciously sweet glaze made of maple vinegar and maple syrup, before being paired with pickled cucumber and a mildly spiced mayonnaise. These ingredients and then served in sourdough bread – truly a meal fit for a king!

If you feel like taking a chance with the British weather and are planning on using the barbecue, you could do a lot worse than this lamb burger recipe! Packed with flavour, the recipe pairs seasoned patties of lamb mince with a homemade BBQ sauce. If it’s too soon for the barbecue, you can always cook the burgers in the oven.

Kingly desserts

Room for dessert? Why not choose one of the nation’s most cherished dishes: British trifle? Our stunning summer fruit trifle features more than a dozen layers of sponge, custard, whipped cream and fresh fruit. An excellent centrepiece for your coronation party.

If you want to go the extra mile with your dessert, consider our commemorative coronation cake, specially made in the shape of a crown. The cake batter is sweetened with maple syrup and maple sugar, while the lemon curd adds a zestiness that pairs excellently with the sponge.

Fresh strawberries and meringue are used along with the lemon curd as decorative elements, symbolising the jewels in the King’s crown. The result is a dazzling and delicious cake that’s guaranteed to impress your guests.

Glorious beverages

You’re going to need something to wash down all that food, and there are few drinks more refreshing than Pimm’s! Our Pimm’s recipe features ginger beer and maple syrup, which blend smoothly with the fruity flavours of the Pimm’s and garnish ingredients.

If you prefer other spirits to gin, why not try our Maple to Montreal? This rum and prosecco cocktail is packed with citrusy flavour and perfect for sipping in the sun. The addition of maple syrup adds a touch of sweetness that balances well with the lime juice and orange zest.

Enjoy the celebrations!

Whether you’re celebrating on your own, with a small circle of friends or in a big group, these recipes are sure to make your coronation weekend a memorable one. We hope you enjoy the festivities – and remember to be sensible with the cocktails!
