  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • ½ tbsp onion powder
  • ½ tbsp salt
  • ½ tbsp black pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

To serve

  • 5 brioche buns
  • 1 sliced red onion
  • 1 sliced tomato
  • Lettuce broken into leaves

Method

For the maple BBQ sauce

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a simmer over a medium heat.
  2. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until thick and glossy, then transfer to a jar and store in the refrigerator.

For the burgers

  1. To make the burgers, add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well by hand.
  2. Shape the mixture into 5 even patties and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Cook the patties on preheated BBQ for around 2 – 3 minutes per side.
These homemade lamb burgers are perfect for BBQ season, but can also be enjoyed by cooking in the oven. Juicy and flavourful, the patties are infused with whisky and Canadian maple syrup, then grilled for additional smoky flavour.

Chef’s tip: to ensure the burger patties don’t stick, oil the meat before placing on the BBQ.

More about maple

The colour and flavour of maple syrup changes in subtle ways during the seasonal harvest

At the start of the sugaring season, the syrup is generally clear, with a light, sweet taste. It becomes darker with a caramelised flavour as the season progresses throughout the spring.

An unopened can of maple syrup keeps for many years

Once the can is opened, syrup should be kept in an airtight container in a cool place.

Maple spread doesn't contain any butter or dairy products

Like all 100% pure maple products, maple spread comes from the sap of the maple tree that’s all.
