Maple Cranberry Bourbon Fizz

Ingredients
For the spiced maple syrup
- 120ml maple syrup (preferably amber syrup for its rich taste)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
For the cocktail
- 1 handful ice
- 50ml bourbon
- 60ml cranberry juice
- 30ml spiced maple syrup (or to taste)
- Sparkling water, to top
- A few fresh/frozen cranberries for garnish
Method
For the syrup
- Place the ingredients in a small saucepan, bring to a gentle simmer and then remove from the heat.
- Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature the remove the cinnamon and ginger.
- Leftover syrup can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
For the cocktail
- Fill a shaker with ice and add the bourbon, juice and spiced maple syrup. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds until the shaker is frosty.
- Strain into glasses, add fresh ice then top each glass off with a splash of sparkling water and garnish with fresh or frozen cranberries.
