
Maple Oatmeal Porridge

Ingredients
For the porridge
- 1 L water
- pinch of salt
- 500 ml quick oats
- pinch of cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
For serving
- 125 ml milk
- 250 ml pure Canadian maple syrup (preferably amber syrup for its rich taste)
- 125 g pecans, crushed
For topping
- 1 juice of lemon
- 2 apples or pears, cubed
Method
Porridge
- Mix the water, salt, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, for approximately 5 minutes.
Fruit
- In a bowl, pour the lemon juice over the cubed apples or pears and leave to stand.
Serving
- Pour the hot porridge into bowls, divide the milk and maple syrup equally among them, and then garnish with the fruit and crushed pecans.
